Our Chairman – Max Taylor

Max Taylor

Max began his career with Willis Faber and Dumas in 1970, and has more than 40 years of industry experience covering both broking and underwriting organisations. He is a previous Chairman of Lloyd’s of London and Deputy Chairman of Aon Corporation’s UK operations and Chairman of BIBA (British Insurance Brokers Association). Apart from IIAL Chairman he is also a board member of Pioneer Underwriting, Chairman of ANV and non-executive director of Mitsui Sumitomo Group Europe.

Our COO – James Bagshawe


James is a Chartered Accountant whose knowledge and expertise of the Shariah finance industry proves him with a unique perspective of both the banking and insurance sectors.   James has developed key relationships with Shariah scholars and industry peers at Shariah financial institutions.   His experience has involved working for some of the leading accounting and banking organisations in the world where he has worked both in UK and in international markets, including Dubai, Paris and Johannesburg.  He has held senior roles in organisations as diverse as Arab Bank Group,  Flemings, JP Morgan Chase, Gatehouse Bank and KPMG.  He qualified with Deloitte here in London.

Colin Grint

Colin Grint






Colin is Chief Executive for Capita’s Corporate Insurance businesses. He has over 20 years in the London insurance market in broker, operations and transformation roles. Colin was in broking roles for 16 years within Sedgwick and Marsh where he majored in the non-marine classes for global clients. In 2007 he was appointed to transform the 1,100 staff operations for Marsh UK which executed the largest outsource in the London insurance broker market to date.

Latterly he has worked on Marsh’s largest global technology and business transformation programme as well as integrating operations following the HSBC. Broker acquisition in 2010 and consequent divestment activities.  In addition, Colin was a Broker advisor to the Corporation of Lloyd’s.

Sean Dalton

Sean Dalton

Sean is currently a director of Armour Risk Management Ltd and Chairman of Secure Legal Title Ltd, and MGA specialising in the provision of Title & Legal Indemnity insurance.

Sean Dalton has a wide experience in the insurance market in the UK and globally. This has taken many forms including, growing, as CEO, one of the largest syndicates at Lloyd’s and being a member of the Council of Lloyd’s. This experience includes start up of new insurance businesses, including Lloyd’s syndicates and a managing agents and also the role of non executive director.

Furthermore, Sean has significant experience of governance matters, both as CEO and non executive, having been chairman of a Lloyd’s managing agent audit committee, as well as a member of the Lloyd’s Audit committee. During his career at Liberty Syndicates, he was responsible for the development and ongoing management of the Legal Indemnities and Title Insurance account for that company and the oversight of the coverholders involved.

Sean consequently, has had significant experience in all aspects of the insurance industry, including company management and governance.

John Turner

John Turner

John is Chairman of Aon Risk Solutions UK and Americas and is actively involved day to day with major clients and oversees a number of relationships.  He has been with Aon in excess of 30 years and has a wide Global network and market knowledge. His role is to bring all of Aon to clients and oversee the “Delivery of our Promises”, as well as build business relationships with clients at a senior level.

He is a member of the ARS UK Executive Committee, a Group of 15 people who oversee the UK Business. He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization/World Presidents’ Organization, a member of the CBI London Council, a founder Trustee of the September 11th Insurance Trust and is a member of Habitat for Humanity UK Development Board. He is also a past Director of Lloyd’s Non-Marine Insurance Brokers Committee

Andrew Baddeley FCA CTA

Andrew Baddeley

Andrew has 28 years’ experience of working in the insurance industry.  His career began in 1987 firstly working in Ernst & Young’s insurance tax practice and then in Price Waterhouse’s insurance tax team.  In 1998 Andrew then joined General Re where he had a number of roles including responsibility for implementing new finance systems and latterly was Chief Financial Officer of General Re’s UK and Ireland based companies including Faraday (syndicate 435). In 2007, Andrew was appointed Group Finance Director of Ariel Reinsurance’s UK sub-group Atrium Underwriting (managing agent for syndicates 570 and 609). In 2012 Andrew was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Brit Insurance (syndicate 2987) and was part of the management team that restructured Brit, leading to its successful IPO and listing on the LSE before the group was acquired in 2015 by Fairfax Financial.

Andrew is a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He has a wealth of knowledge of the insurance industry and in particular the Lloyd’s market.
