Nizam Mohammed Yaquby

Sheikh Nizam is one of the most widely respected Islamic scholars in the world today.  Sheikh Nizam sits on the Islamic supervisory boards of several Islamic financial institutions and is an active scholar in Islamic finance. He received a BA degree in Economics and Comparative Religion from McGill University (Canada) and is currently completing his PhD in Islamic law at the University of Wales. He works as an independent Shariah consultant based in his home country, Bahrain, and his accomplishments and responsibilities include:

  • Professor of Tafsir, Hadith and Fiqh in Bahrain since 1976
  • Author of several articles and publications on Islamic finance and other sciences in English and Arabic, including Tahqiatul-A’mal fi Ikhraj Zakatil-Fitr bil-Mal, Risalah fit-Tawbah, Qurratul-‘Aynayn fi Fada’il Birr al-Walidayn, and Irshad al-‘Uqala’ ila Hukm al-Qira’ah min al-Mus-haf fis-Salah
  • Shariah Advisor, ABC International Bank plc, HSBC Amanah, AIG Takaful Enaya B.S.C, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Bahrain Islamic Bank, Citi Islamic Investment Bank and others

Sheikh Zubair Miah

Sheikh Zubair completed his memorisation of the Qur’an at the age of 16 at Darul Uloom Al Arabiyya Al Islamiyya, Bury, UK. He continued with his Islamic studies at the same prestigious institute and studied Islamic history, Science of the Qur’an and Ahadith, Islamic Jurisprudence and Sharia Law and obtained a BA. He has a LLB from University of Kent at Canterbury and completed his LPC in 2010 at the College of Law (Bloomsbury). Sheikh Zubair has been an Imam and an advisor since 1999.  He specialises in Takaful insurance but is active and knowledgeable in other areas of Islamic finance
